MEET YOUR THERAPISTS

Therapists who understand rave culture

At Ravers Therapy, you don't have to explain the culture you're part of before you can begin talking about your life.

We're qualified, experienced therapists - and we're ravers ourselves.

We know that raving can be one of the places where you feel most alive and most yourself. We also understand the intensity that can come with the lifestyle - the big weekends, close friendships, late nights, substances, comedowns, complicated relationships and the sometimes stark contrast between life on and off the dancefloor.

Whatever brings you to therapy, you can bring that part of your life with you too.

Susana Serer, integrative psychotherapist and counsellor at Ravers Therapy

SUSANA SERER

Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor

BACP Registered

I'm Susana, a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

At the heart of my approach is the relationship we build together. I bring a warm, steady presence and aim to create a space where you can bring all of yourself - including the parts that feel messy, contradictory or difficult to understand.

I've also been part of the rave community myself, so conversations about nights out, festivals, substances and comedowns don't need translating.

My approach and experience

I work integratively, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you, your experiences and what you need from therapy. We might explore what's happening in your life now, how earlier experiences and relationships continue to affect you, the different parts of yourself that sometimes seem to pull in opposite directions, and what you want your life and relationships to look like going forward.

I don't see my role as telling you how you should live. I see myself as a companion as you navigate your own terrain - helping you understand where you are, what has shaped you and which direction feels right for you.

I have particular experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD and autism, childhood and complex trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties, self-worth and burnout.

Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I spent two decades working in the community with children, young people, families and older adults. I have also worked as a freelance writer focusing on mental and physical health and self-development, designed and delivered training around confidence and self-esteem, and worked in maternal mental health advocacy.

I know this world from the inside

I understand that raving isn't necessarily something you want therapy to change. It may be an important and enjoyable part of your life. Or perhaps your relationship with it is becoming more complicated. Either way, I'm interested in what it means to you.

You don't need to sanitise your experiences for therapy, and I'm not here to decide what your relationship with raving should look like.

We can explore it together.

Karen Bland, trauma-informed therapist at Ravers Therapy

KAREN BLAND

Trauma-Informed Therapist

NCPS Accredited

I'm Karen, a trauma-informed therapist with over 11 years' experience supporting adults and young people with anxiety, trauma, overwhelm and struggles that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.

My approach is gentle, steady and focused on the whole person. I aim to create a space where you can feel safe to be yourself and work towards change at a pace that feels right for you.

I'm also part of the rave community, so you can speak openly about partying, substance use and everything around it without worrying about being judged or misunderstood.

The MAP Method

My work is guided by my MAP approach - Mind, Awareness and Physiology. Rather than looking at one part of your experience in isolation, we can explore how your thoughts and emotions, your awareness of yourself and your body's responses all interact.

This can help us look beneath the surface of what you're experiencing, understand patterns and responses that may have developed through difficult or traumatic experiences, and find ways of moving forward that work for you as a whole person.

No need to edit yourself

You might want to explore something connected with that part of your life, or it might have absolutely nothing to do with why you've come to therapy.

Either is welcome.

TWO THERAPISTS - ONE SHARED APPROACH

Different therapeutic backgrounds, shared values.

Susana and Karen have different therapeutic backgrounds and ways of working, but we share some important values.

We believe therapy should be somewhere you can speak honestly - including about the things you might normally censor, minimise or worry about admitting.

We're not here to tell you how to live or assume we know what needs to change.

Sometimes therapy is about healing from things that happened a long time ago. Sometimes it's about what's happening right now. It might involve understanding patterns that keep repeating, making different choices, navigating relationships, or finding your way back to parts of yourself you've lost touch with.

And sometimes you don't know what it's about yet.

That's okay too.

FINDING THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR YOU

The relationship you have with your therapist matters.

You might feel naturally drawn towards Susana's integrative and relational way of working, or Karen's gentle, trauma-informed and whole-person approach.

If you're unsure, that's completely fine.

Get in touch and tell us a little about what you're looking for. We can help you decide who might be the best fit.

Sessions are £60 for 60 minutes and take place online, weekly or fortnightly.
